How Next Gen Directors Can Guide Change in Today’s Boardrooms

Episode Summary

Advisory Council member Jennifer Dulski is an agent of change. As a board member for TEGNA, Jennifer draws on her experience in advocacy, leadership, and technology to challenge her fellow board members to think differently about the role of today’s board members. Never mind the fact that she’s often 20+ years their junior.

In this episode of Inside America’s Boardrooms, Jennifer joins host TK Kerstetter to discuss how she has navigated change in the boardroom and throughout her career—particularly when others are change-averse. Jennifer speaks about her experience joining a board at a young age and offers advice for other young directors.

What’s really important is for younger board members to realize that they do have relevant experience and value to add—and to jump in with confidence about doing that.
— Jennifer Dulski, Board Member with TEGNA

TEGNA, the board on which Jennifer serves, has some unique characteristics of its own. It’s one of the few boards that has reached true gender parity (at least 50% women). Jennifer also speaks about her experience serving on TEGNA versus previous boards. She explains the effect that diversity can have on board process and performance.

About Jennifer Dulski: She most recently served as the President & COO for Change.org. She cut her digital teeth at Yahoo! and then went on to sell her own digital company (The Dealmap) to Google.
